The cooking workshop is focused on the wonderful Azorean gastronomy, rich in flavors and authenticity. The rich volcanic soil of these Atlantic islands allows the cultivation and growth of exotic foods that make regional cuisine even more special and rich in flavors.
The duration of the workshop is 4 hours (11:00 am to 3:00 pm), and after learning how to cook some dishes, you will sit down at the table to taste them. This workshop intends to teach traditional techniques and gastronomic customs of our islands and to show new authentic flavors.
Franz is an Azorean at heart and soul with Saxon roots in the beautiful city of Dresden in Germany, where he was born and raised before moving to Faial Island more than 20 years ago. Passionate about the islands and everything that surrounds them, Franz is a tour guide with vast competence on land and sea, who over the years has developed a particular taste for Azorean cuisine and products. As a cook he is well versed in traditional island cooking techniques, and enjoys stirring things up with elements, spices and creativity from distant origins.
