$31,000 RAISED FOR HAITI’S CHILD

A RECORD $31,000 RAISED FOR HAITI’S CHILD, THANKS TO YOUR HELP

The Hope for Haiti’s Child benefit on Friday, February 21st was about more than just raising money. The event was also about instilling hope for fellow humans who face food and water insecurity in Haiti. The goal of raising $10,000 was more than tripled thanks to the help of our generous community.

The recently restored Bristol Yacht Club was filled with smiles from friends, old and new, who each made a pledge to make a difference in the lives of people 1562 miles away. Attendees were treated to a cocktail hour and buffet by Russell Morin Events & Catering and danced to music from Neal & the Vipers.

With guest emcee Mr. Joseph M Brito Jr. as auctioneer, four experiences were sold off courtesy of Atlantivacations Tours, Bruce Cox, and Robert Rondeau. Silent auction items were donated by A Jour Jewelry, Matt Hayes, and Bristol Liquors. Flowers provided by Victoria’s Flowers. Raffle prizes were made possible by Alayne White Spa, Anytime Fitness Bristol, Lobster Pot, New Rivers American Bistro, Portside Tavern, Club Canine, Thames Waterside and Prica Farina.

Local champions Mary and Ken Watkinson educated the crowd and shared personal stories of their experiences volunteering in Haiti. The Watkinsons also shared that fifteen volunteers will be heading out to Haiti on March 7th for a week-long medical mission trip. These trips are essential to furthering the Foundation’s mission. The missionaries will bring 20 (50lb) bags of hygiene and medical supplies to distribute throughout their stay.

If you would like to become a sponsor or help collection efforts please contact Mary Watkinson for more info.

Thank you to everyone who participated to make this year’s Hope for Haiti benefit a record-breaking success!
